On 3rd November 2009, The World Hovercraft Federation announced that the 12th World
Hovercraft Championships will be hosted by the Hovercraft Club of Great Britain (HCGB).
These Championships will be held between 23rd and 29th August, 2010 at Towcester Racecourse,
London Road, Towcester in Northamptonshire, England.
The Hovercraft Club of Great Britain have also decided that Formula 3 will be re-introduced, and
Endurance Racing (ER) will be included within the Championships.
Towcester, is a small town (pronounced 'Toaster') about 75 miles north of London, and dates
back to Roman times when it was known as 'Lactodorum'. The Roman settlement grew up around
a fort built on Whatling Street, the ancient route to Chester.
Set on this important route Towcester became a coaching town and by the early-19th century had
more than 20 inns. When Charles Dickens visited the town he stayed at the Saracen's Head and
later mentioned it in 'Pickwick Papers'.
